Bio

I grew up in Japan, where I lived from age three until graduating high school (minus a year here and a summer there). I went to Chicago for college, and while there got hooked on sociology. I moved to Berkeley to get my PhD, and while there met my partner, Emily.

My parents recently moved back to the States, and now live near San Jose (when they aren't visiting our preschooler). My sister is a sociology professor at Pepperdine University, and studies issues related to disability.
