Courses

At the undergraduate level I teach a class on the sociology of education, inequality, and a capstone class for sociology majors.  In the capstone class students conduct an original research project on a topic of their choosing, and present the results in a conference-style paper and presentation. Topics range widely; previous students have written on questions such as the role of privatization in the overcrowding of prisons, intergenerational differences in dating patterns, and the decline in the popularity of classical music.

At the graduate level I have taught seminars on research design, NIH grant writing, and different aspects of social inequality.
